| Russell and Corinne Earnest are recognized authorities in the field of Pennsylvania German fraktur (18th and 19th century decorated manuscripts made by and for Pennsylvania Germans), broadsides and genealogy. They began their research on fraktur in 1971 and over the ensuing years, they have recorded the family history data from more than 30,000 examples. Fraktur are often inaccessible to genealogists because they are scattered among numerous museums, genealogical and historical societies, families, and private collectors. Over the years, however, the Earnests have published and continue to publish books that translate the genealogically significant portions of these treasured, German-language manuscripts. Russell D. Earnest associates acts as a clearinghouse for family data found on fraktur. If you can share information from early documents related to fraktur -- documents such as birth and baptism certificates, Bible records, family registers, broadsides, even letters -- the Earnests would like to hear from you. To contact the Earnests, or to receive a free catalog for books on fraktur, write Russell D. Earnest Associates, PO Box 1132, Clayton DE19938 or email RDEARNEST@aol.com. |
